Rong 1st Birthday at Venus, Manchester 07/10/2011 w/ Giuseppe Ottaviani, Bryan Kearney, Menno De Jong

Calling all RONG’uns… Manchester’s bang-tidy trance brand are back to celebrate a whole year of RONG doings with their 1st birthday bosh-up!
It was back in September 2009 that RONG first invaded the dance floors of Manchester city centre – However, after changing venues and then taking some time out, they never actually ever got the chance to celebrate their first official coming of age ☹

The roaring success of the re-launch party in January this year instantly made a lasting impression, which allowed the brand to get their feet firmly under the table and secure a bi-monthly residency at one of Manchester’s premier venue’s, Venus The Club. Since then RONG has become an infectious remedy in the Manchester club scene, filling a much needed gap in the market and proving that trance still firmly has a place in the heart of Manchester’s club life. So after missing out first time round, they intend to make up for lost time and celebrate the first official (belated) birthday with a night that is set to take you to the RONG side of the raving horizon!

RONG is a night that is all about the music! Forever armed with a tight bill of talent from a spectrum of global cutting edge and elite trance acts, showcased in an intimate and underground abode. This carefully conjured recipe allows RONG’uns alike to put their trance pants on and lose their inhibitions on the dance floor to indulge in the pure love of euphoric breakdowns, spine tingling melodies, uplifting riffs and thumping baselines; complimented by an every friendly and energetic aura. So say goodbye to pretentious partying, as the ethos of the night is grounded upon a pure and raw love of trance that unites likeminded individuals to celebrate a mutual passion for the music. The night also provides the rare opportunity to get up-close and personal with the best international artists in the scene, presenting an exclusive and cheaper alternative to the large scale arena shows that are fast replacing smaller club nights for the world’s top DJs.

Music aside, the night’s quirky and underground vibe also sets it apart from your average party. RONG is a brand made by clubbers for the clubbers. Constantly striving to deliver who is sought in the scene as part of an accessible and unique clubbing experience. Just imagine… as the lights come on at 5am, a respectfully packed dance floor amidst a sea of hands in the air, with the echoing chant ‘one more tune, one more tune’! This has fast become a common scene at the close of each event, evidencing the infectious love affair the brand has forged with its revellers. So, if you’re RONG in all the right ways, this is certainly a night for you!

For the past three months the RONG faithful have been voting for who they would like to see play the 1st birthday. With over 500 unique votes, let’s just say the people have most certainly done the talking!

Headlining this very special event is the exceptionally talented and highly regarded Italian born DJ/producer and live musician – GIUSEPPE OTTAVIANI. Having released tracks on Paul Van Dyk’s renowned label ‘Vandit Records’; Giuseppe is considered one of the most talented producers and influential recording artists in trance music. After music school in his early childhood and studies of classical music as a teen, he discovered electronic music and started to spin his first DJ-sets at clubs and on local radio stations. His deep enthusiasm for anything related to technology led to him beginning to use his computer to make and produce his own music and when he met Andrea Ribeca and Giacomo Miccichè in 1999 (two electronic music enthusiasts and also DJs) quickly decided to start their own music project: NU NRG – Giuseppe’s starting point as a professional musician and producer. Since then Giuseppe launched his solo career with great success. His live performances are show stopping, each fuelled with enthusiasm as though it was his first ever performance: “Playing my own music live is something special, something that really touches me. It is an electronic music concert, performing on stage allows you to get through to the people, they really breathe the music, you can establish a two-way bond with them and the music itself changes and reacts to the people, this is why each show is different, unique.” RONG are privileged to welcome GO to their stage as the centre piece for their first birthday celebrations!

Joining him on this special birthday bill is trances’ tallest order who has etched as many notches on the dance tree as someone twice his age – Dutch DJ/producer MENNO DE JONG. Menno began mixing at a very early age, but at the age of 17 he threw himself into DJing full-throttle. In the last four years he has successfully scaled the upper echelons of the DJ hierarchy, with four successive positions in the top 100 DJ poll. Having played clubs and events that themselves are virtually interchangeable with the phrase electronic dance music; he is a master of numerous music industry disciplines.

Putting the finishing touches to the main room mastery is Ireland’s answer to Kearnage – DJ/producer BRYAN KEARNEY. A DJ of almost ten years experience, Bryan has established himself firmly on the international dance scene. The talented technician’s cutting edge sets contain the very best in upfront club driven music with the emphasis always on energy and the unexpected. A DJ that likes to take risks, do things differently, and loves to surprise clubbers across the globe with exclusive edits – Bryan is an explosive element to the line-up, who guarantees to set the birthday celebrations alight with a BANG! Finally, supporting these high flyers will be RONG resident James Rigby, OTR’s residents Hidden Agenda, Versatile Resident Gav Pilling, and with his main room RONG debut Goodgreef and RONG room 2 regular Liam Wilson. As always room two will be taken hostage by the RONG DJs, presenting the fiercest local and up-and-coming talent in tech-trance/trance in the scene.

So, join the celebrations and be part of RONG’s official first birthday, because let’s face it – with a party prescription that’s so right, it would be RONG not to get involved
